Lloyd Park Playground
We demand the following, in order of priority: 1. Either that adequate drainage is installed, or that the areas of grass are replaced by rubber playground flooring. 2. That those aspects of the playground that are of poor or unsafe design are repaired: • The red slide needs steps to one side so that toddlers and parents are able to climb without slipping. • The log-climbing frame is uninteresting, slippery in wet weather and difficult to negotiate for toddlers. • The trampoline is has fetid water pooling underneath. 3. That the playground needs more equipment including (these are suggestions made by parents): • Another set of toddler swings. • A climbing frame suitable for the under 5s. • A house, shipwreck or other structure for the purposes of imaginative play. • A roundabout.
More details about this petition:
1. Although there have been attempts to investigate and repair
parts of the playground following letters of complaint, these
efforts do not go far enough.
2. The play area suffers from: an absence of drainage leading to the playground becoming waterlogged and muddy; elements of poor and unsafe design; and a lack of varied equipment particularly relating to the absence of climbing skills and imaginative play.
